The purpose of the Life Long Learning Prep Course: A Focused Review is to prepare attendees for the ABU Knowledge Assessment. This course will be practice focused and will offer practical and clinically-specific updates. It will highlight the AUA guidelines and address general urology practice issues that can be expected on the knowledge assessment. The course will model the the structure of the ABU exam by covering Core/General Urology on the first day followed by a pre-selected breakout in one of four areas on the second day.
Breakout sessions include the following (Attendees will choose 1 of the 4)
- Module 1: Oncology, Urinary Diversion and Adrenal
- Module 2: Calculi, Laparoscopy-Robotics and Upper Tract Obstruction
- Module 3: Impotence, Infertility and Andrology
- Module 4: Neurogenic Bladder, Voiding Dysfunction, Female Urology, BPH, and Urethral Stricture

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
Core Urology:
- Review generally accepted urological practices for superior patient care.
- Discuss a core knowledge of urology necessary for taking the ABU Knowledge Assessment.
- Examine the most recent changes and additions to the AUA guidelines.
Module 1: Oncology, Urinary Diversion and Adrenal:
- Discuss the appropriate indications for and use diagnostic tests in the management of urologic cancers.
- Enhance ability to make guideline-based decisions regarding management of common urologic cancers.
- Recognize and execute appropriate measures to prevent and manage complications resulting for management intervention for urologic cancers.
- Develop and employ a disease stage appropriate surveillance schedule during post management follow-up of urologic cancers.
Module 2: Calculi, Laparoscopy-Robotics and Upper Tract Obstruction:
- Apply AUA guidelines towards the medical and surgical management of kidney stones.
- Describe the effects of laparoscopy on the surgical patient and appreciate the potential complications.
- Demonstrate understanding of the techniques of robotic urological surgery.
Module 3: Impotence, Infertility and Andrology:
- Review the appropriate indications for and use of diagnostic tests in the evaluation and management of male infertility.
- Develop the ability to make guideline-based decisions regarding the evaluation and management of male sexual disorders, including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease and priapism.
- Discuss the evaluation and appropriate treatment indications of hypogonadism, with enhanced ability to review the risks and benefits of testosterone replacement therapy.
- Enhance ability to provide guideline-based vasectomy care.
Module 4: Neurogenic Bladder, Voiding Dysfunction, Female Urology, BPH and Urethral Stricture:
- Discuss the underlying pathophysiology that contributes to lower urinary tract symptoms.
- Determine appropriate evaluation and treatment for lower urinary tract dysfunction.
- Evaluate and treat neurogenic bladder.

Cancellation Policy
LIVE COURSE
An administrative fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee is 50% of the registration fee paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.
WEBCAST
Cancellations must be made no later than one week prior to the live course. Subscription fees will not be refunded after the cancellation period. Purchases after the live course date are not eligible for a refund.
REGISTRATION TRANSFER
Customers switching from an option of lesser value to a higher value will be required to pay the difference in cost between the two options. Switching to an option of lesser value from a higher value must be made no later than to six weeks prior to the course and will be subject to an administrative fee of 15% of the cost of the course from which they are transferring. Transfer of registration from a higher value option to an option of lesser value past six weeks prior to the course will not receive a refund.
