This set of activities will focus on bladder and ureteral cancer.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify the risk factors for the development of bladder cancer.
  2. Describe the staging of bladder cancer including the risk categories of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
  3. Describe the induction and maintenance schedules for using intravesical BCG in the management of intermediate and high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
  4. Identify the common treatment-related side effects for the intravesical therapies used in the management of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
  5. Describe the treatment options for muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
  6. Define common postoperative concerns after radical cystectomy and possible management strategies to address these concerns.
  7. Define the time points and diagnostic tests for cancer surveillance of patients treated for clinically localized bladder cancer, including the surveillance of non-muscle invasive and muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
  8. Describe the role of the urology provider in the management of advanced bladder cancer.
