Fundamentals in Urology offers both in-person Hands-on Skills Training and Virtual Didactic components to provide learners an introduction to foundational, evidence-based urology and opportunities to network with their peers. 


Hands-on Skills Training

The in-person Hands-on Skills Training will be held on August 16-17, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Skills Training aims to:

  • Provide a standardized and foundational course for junior residents and advanced practice providers to introduce them to urology. 
  • Provide a course that complements the efforts of individual training programs. 
  • Deliver a uniform curriculum to ensure baseline proficiency to improve patient safety. 
  • Provide an opportunity to network with peers. 
  • NEW THIS YEAR! Hands-on Skills Training will feature two distinct training tracks - APP and Resident - with the unique training needs of these critical members of the care team considered. 

This one and a half day training consists of simulations focused on clinical skills such as: priapism, catheters and bladder ultrasound, endoscopy, and ultrasound, and one focused on interpersonal and communication skills.

Virtual Didactic Series

This Virtual Didactic Series consists of 15 on-demand modules. Each session features case-based content with "take-home" clinical pearls of wisdom. 

This program aims to:

  • Provide a standardized and foundational course for early career residents and APPs to introduce them to urology..

  • Deliver a uniform curriculum to ensure baseline proficiency to improve patient safety.

Modules will be released to registered participants starting in June 2025.

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION: 

Hands-on Skills Training: The American Urological Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 9.50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Virtual Didactic Series: The American Urological Association designates these enduing materials for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

OTHER LEARNERS: 

The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

EVIDENCE BASED CONTENT: 

It is the policy of the AUA to ensure that the content contained in this CME activity is valid, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and free of commercial bias.
