Stephanie Kielb, MD
Dr. Kielb is a board certified in both Urology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She completed her training at the University of Michigan under the mentorship of Dr. Ed McGuire, one the four founders of the subspecialty of female urology.
She is an Associate Professor and Residency Program Director in the Department of Urology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, and sits on the Graduate Medical Education Committee for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She is a leader in post-graduate medical education developing innovative curricula demonstrating the feasibility of flexible resident training on educational outcomes. She implemented and runs and surgical skills curriculum including robotic and laparoscopic training for the urologic residency training program.
In addition, Dr. Kielb is a forerunner in sacral neuromodulation in women with urinary and fecal incontinence. She currently is funded to study patient reported outcomes in a cohort of women undergoing sacral neuromodulation. She has extensive experience in voiding dysfunction and the use of onabotulinum toxin for both neurogenic and non-neurogenic indications.
Dr. Kielb is also a consultant at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and is a nationally recognized expert in care of the adult neurogenic bladder with particular interest in the adult spina bifida population and has ongoing research in this area. She a leading member of a large, multidisciplinary team treating adult spina bifida patients and does research into the long-term management, medical problems, and urologic outcomes in in these patients. She is an expert in complex genitourinary reconstruction, including bladder augmentations with catheterizable channels, as well complex ureteral reconstruction including reimplantation, boari flaps, and ileal ureters.
