Learning Objectives

Day One: Practice Management

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss advance practice provider (APP) integration & utilization in urologic practice to optimize access to care.
  2. Define advanced practice provider (APP) scope of practice, review national APP scope of practice goals, and state adoption of those goals.
  3. Recognize and analyze opportunities to keep their practice a physician owned independent entity.
  4. Evaluate the benefits, drawbacks, and potential risks of outsourcing coding and revenue cycle management services, and make informed decisions regarding the suitability of outsourcing for their urology practice.
  5. Recognize the importance of creating a culture of compliance in their practice and list the fundamentals of effective compliance plans.
  6. Identify ideas and strategies to mitigate the burden of prior authorizations.
  7. Identify how changes in the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule may impact their practices.
  8. Recognize the value of a budget and the facile, but fundamental, tactics to build a functional budget..
  9. Interpret and apply the rules and regulations around price transparency and the No Surprises Act.

Day Two: Coding & Reimbursement

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Determine coding for the appropriate level of evaluation and management.
  2. Interpret and apply billing and coding for proper reimbursement.
  3. Identify and apply best practices in billing processes within an ambulatory surgery center to optimize revenue capture and ensure compliance.
  4. Identify the practice implications created by the expiration of the Public Health Emergency (PHE).
  5. Accurately identify and apply appropriate modifiers in urology coding scenarios, understand the impact of modifiers on reimbursement, and effectively navigate modifier-related challenges to optimize coding accuracy and revenue capture within their medical practice.
  6. List the changes to Medicare Program for 2023.
  7. Identify common causes of claim denials, implement proactive strategies to minimize denials, and develop effective techniques to maximize revenue by effectively appealing and resolving denied claims within their urology practice.
  8. Code complex urological issues and multiple procedures.

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION: 

The American Urological Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

OTHER LEARNERS: 

The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Cancellation Policy

AUA Education & Research reserves the right to cancel any portion of this activity if a minimum enrollment is not reached before June 9, 2023. If AUA Education & Research cancels any portion of this activity, notification will be sent by June 16, 2023.

Live Courses: An administrative fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee is 50% of the registration fee paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.

Webcast: Cancellations must be made no later than one week prior to the live course. Subscription fees will not be refunded after the cancellation period. Purchases after the live course date are not eligible for a refund.

Registration Transfer: Customers switching from an option of lesser value to a higher value will be required to pay the difference in cost between the two options. Switching to an option of lesser value from a higher value must be made no later than to six weeks prior to the course and will be subject to an administrative fee of 15% of the cost of the course from which they are transferring. Transfer of registration from a higher value option to an option of lesser value past six weeks prior to the course will not receive a refund.
