Dr. Rodriguez-Covarrubias works as a Urologist at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ) and at Médica Sur Hospital in Mexico City. He is Professor of Undergraduate Urology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
He completed a university training program in Laparoscopy and Urology Oncology at the Department of Urology at Hôpital Henri Mondor in Créteil, France between July 2006 and June 2007 under the mentorship or Pr. Claude C. Abbou.
Since 2009 he is a national researcher of the National System of Researchers of CONACYT, Mexico. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico and the Mexican Academy of Surgery.
In 2018 he was appointed as a member of the Ethics Committee of the Latin American Renal Cancer Group (LARCG) and in 2019 as a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC). He was president of the Mexican Association of Oncological Urology (2018-2019), as well as Coordinator of the Uro-Oncology Chapter (2017-2019) and Secretary of Education (2019-2021) of the Mexican Society of Urology (SMU).
He is currently Pro-Secretary of the INCMNSZ Physicians Association (2020-2022) and Editor-in-Chief of the Mexican Journal of Urology (2021-2023).
He is the author/co-author of more than 50 papers published in peer-review journals.
