Nicolas Ortiz, MD
Dr Ortiz is an assistant professor of urology at the University of Virginia. A native of Colombia, Dr. Ortiz immigrated to the United States to pursue a career in medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas and completed his residency in Urology at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Following residency, he served in the U.S. Army, rising to the position of Chief of Urology at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. During his military service, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Upon completion of his active duty commitment, Dr. Ortiz returned to UT Southwestern as a fellow in Genitourinary Trauma, Reconstruction and Prosthetics. He joined the urology department at the University of Virginia in July, 2020.
In his free time, Dr. Ortiz enjoys traveling, the outdoors and spending time with his wife.
