Suzanne Cole, MD

Suzanne Cole, M.D., is a Medical Oncologist specializing in genitourinary (GU) malignancies and serves as the Medical Director of Community Oncology, Rural, and Underrepresented Minority (CORUM) Research at UT Southwestern Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she is also an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Passionate about expanding access to clinical trials, she focuses on increasing enrollment opportunities for rural and diverse populations, ensuring that research reflects the experiences of the average cancer patient. Dr. Cole earned a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Modern Dance, summa cum laude, from UT Dallas, followed by an M.A. in Humanities from California State University, Northridge. She obtained her medical degree from UT Southwestern, where she also completed her Internal Medicine residency, before pursuing a Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. For eight years, she cared for patients in rural West Virginia and Oklahoma while actively participating in cancer research through the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). In 2018, she received the NCORP Silver Physician Award for her outstanding contributions to clinical trial enrollment. That same year, she returned to Dallas and became Medical Director of the UT Southwestern Richardson-Plano Cancer Center, where she successfully developed and launched a community-based clinical trial program serving North Texas patients. Dr. Cole is a Fellow of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American College of Physicians (ACP).
