J. Kellogg Parsons, MD, MHS, is Professor of Urology and Endowed Chair in Urologic Research in the UC San Diego Department of Urology. His research focuses on clinical trials of prostate cancer and population studies of BPH and patient safety. He is a principle investigator for multi-center clinical trials funded by the National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation. He is an author on over 125 peer-reviewed publications, including papers in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, JAMA Surgery, and European Urology. He is an Associate Editor at Prostate Cancer Prostatic Diseases; a consulting editor for European Urology; Vice Chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Panel on Prostate Cancer Early Detection; and currently serves on the AUA Guidelines Panel for BPH. Dr. Parsons’ clinical practice focuses on prostate cancer and BPH. He has expertise in robotic prostatectomy (radical and simple), MRI-guided prostate biopsy, and prostate cryosurgery. He has been named to the America’s Best Doctors® and the San Diego Medical Society Top Doctors lists for several years. Dr. Parsons has an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed residency and fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
