Danil V. Makarov, MD, MHS is a board-certified urologist and a fellowship trained health services researcher. He received his undergraduate degree in economics with distinction from Yale University (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude) and his medical degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (Alpha Omega Alpha). He completed his residency in urology at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Makarov continued on the faculty at Johns Hopkins after which he completed a Masters in Health Sciences Research as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Makarov joined the NYU faculty in 2010 as Assistant Professor of Urology, Population Health and Health Policy. He has a urological oncology-focused practice at the Manhattan VA and serves as Director of Surgical Research in the Department of Population Health. Dr. Makarov is interested in the implementation of evidence-based care and best practices for men with prostate cancer. Dr. Makarov has grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, Veterans Health Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, New York State, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  Dr. Makarov's mission is to improve the quality and the efficiency of healthcare administered to men with prostate cancer in the United States.
