Adele Caruso, MD

Adele Caruso, DNP, CRNP, FAANP, is a Nurse Practitioner Provider at Penn Medicine in Urologic Oncology, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and Past President of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. In clinical practice, Dr. Caruso is acknowledged for work on a shared decision-making model for small renal masses, bladder cancer therapies and QI initiatives. She is the author of multiple publications and has represented an advanced practice voice for Urology Times. She is the author of the Bladder Cancer in Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA) Core Curriculum for Urologic Nursing- First & Second Editions and Chemoradiation Bladder Preservation in Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy in Urologic Oncology: A Guide for the Advanced Practice Provider. Most recently, Dr. Caruso was Course Director for the AUA's Contemporary Management of MIBC and Beyond: Expert Guidance for APPs. She is an active member of the MidAtlantic Section of the AUA and currently serving on the AUA Education/Membership/Live Education Committees.
Dr. Caruso is recognized for her expertise in health policy and pivotal contributions for advancing Pennsylvania’s efforts towards “Full Practice Authority”! As President of the Pennsylvania Coalition (2017-2020), she led the Pennsylvania is Ready for Full Practice Authority Care for PA Campaign and was recognized for establishing PCNP: A New Era in Shaping Health Policy, a novel platform to issue formal comments on proposed state legislation and regulatory matters. She continues to work tirelessly on these initiatives and others to help remove barriers to NP practice, advance the NP profession and improve access to quality healthcare. In June 2020, she was inducted into the distinguished Fellowship of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners reserved for those individuals who have made significant contributions towards the global advancement of the NP profession. She regularly contributes to the Penn Medicine Community, and in October 2020, she was recognized for her leadership within the University of Pennsylvania Health System as a recipient of the Barbara A. Todd Advanced Practice Leadership Award, the PCNP-Sheila Gealey Award for Advocacy 2024, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners Advocate State Award for Excellence 2024.
