Stephen Kraus, MD

Dr. Kraus is Professor & Vice Chairman of the Department of Urology at UT Health San Antonio where he heads the Division of Female Urology, Neuro-Urology & Voiding Dysfunction. He completed his undergraduate education at Brandeis University, received his MD from Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he also completed his urology residency, followed by fellowship in Neuro-Urology, Incontinence, and Urodynamics at Baylor College of Medicine and his MSCI at UT Health San Antonio. He received his subspecialty certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery from the American Board of Urology in June 2013. Dr Kraus received his MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Buisness in 2020 and serves as Interim Chief Medical Officer for Inpatient Services at UT Health San Antonio
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr Kraus is also a member of: American Urological Association, American Urogynecologic Society, International Continence Society and Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) . He is on the Board of Directors for SUFU and the Texas Urological Society and serves as Chair of the Education Committee for both.
Dr Kraus has served as faculty for many post graduate courses on topics including Neurourology, Female Urology, Overactive Bladder, Male Incontinence & Voiding Disorders and Urodynamics. Dr Kraus is Co-Chair of the AUA Guidelines Panel on Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction and served on the AUA Guidelines Panels for Urodynamics and Female Stress Urinary Incontinence and heads the SUFU OAB Clinical Care Pathway Project.
Dr. Kraus has served as PI for many research studies and grants including the Urinary Incontinence Treatment Network, (NIH/NIDDK). Dr Kraus is on the editorial boards of Drugs & Aging and World Journal of Urology. He serves as reviewer for Journal of Urology, Urology and Neurourology & Urodynamics.
