Alexander Gomelsky, MD,FACS

Dr. Alex Gomelsky received dual BA degrees in Russian and Natural Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University followed by an MD degree from the University of Maryland. He completed his Urology residency at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and Female Urology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Gomelsky is a Professor in the Department of Urology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he has been on staff since 2004. He has been Residency Program Director since 2011 and was appointed interim Chairman of the Department in November 2014. He is the Director of the Section of Female Urology, Neurourology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at LSU Health - Shreveport. He has recently been appointed to the AUA Stress Urinary Incontinence Guidelines Committee and the ABU/AUA Written Examination Committee. Dr. Gomelsky has received the 2012 Paul Zimskind Award from SUFU for contributions to the organization and served as a Southeastern Section Representative to the AUA Leadership Program from 2008 to 2010. His clinical and research interests entail outcomes in incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse surgery.
