Vijaya Vemulakonda, MD,JD
Dr. Vijaya Vemulakonda is a Professor of Pediatric Urology, Director of Research, and Residency Program Director for the Division of Urology at the University of Colorado. She earned her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School and her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her urology residency at Baylor College of Medicine and her pediatric fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital, University of Washington School of Medicine. She is active in the American Urologic Association, currently serving as a member of the Diversity& Inclusion Committee and the AUA Updates Editorial Committee. Her clinical interests include the management of antenatally detected congenital urologic anomalies, including posterior urethral valves, cloacal and bladder exstrophy variants, and myelomeningocele, with an emphasis on the use of robot-assisted reconstructive techniques in these patients. Her research focuses on the development of evidence based guidelines to optimize surgical outcomes in children with congenital urologic anomalies and the use of the electronic health record to facilitate prospective multi-center collaborative surgical research. Her recent research funding includes an AUA data grant, an AHRQ PCOR K08 Career Development Award, and the AUA Rising Star in Urology Award.
