Alireza Ghoreifi, MD

Alireza Ghoreifi obtained his Medical Degree from Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences and completed his Urology residency in 2014 at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran. Subsequently, he served as an Assistant Professor of Urology at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences for 4 years. In 2018, he joined the University of Southern California (USC) Institute of Urology as a research fellow in Urologic Oncology. He then started a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at Duke University Department of Urology in July 2024. Dr. Ghoreifi’s main interests include bladder and upper tract urothelial carcinoma, and testicular cancer. He has received grants from the USC Urology Research Council to investigate blood-based liquid biopsy and urine-based methylation markers in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma. He has also received the 2024 Urology Care Foundation Research Scholar Award. Dr. Ghoreifi has presented over 120 abstracts at national and international scientific meetings, in which he won the Grand Prize of the Western Section AUA 2022 and the best poster presentation at the AUA 2023. He has authored over 90 peer-reviewed original articles, reviews, and chapters. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple urology journals and was honored with the SIU and Current Urology Journals 2023 Best Reviewer Award.
