V11-09: Case report of a laparoscopic excision of para-aortic pheochromocytoma by ligation of left renal vein without compromising renal function
Video
Introductions and ObjectivesDemonstrate the impact on renal function, feasibility and safety of ligation of main left renal vein when dealing with complex retroperitoneal lesions.
Methods
Case report of an 36 year/old, female with a retroperitoneal pheochromocytoma outside the adrenal gland that undergo a successful laparoscopic excision. The post-operative outcomes measured were: changes in creatinine levels and eGFR and blood pressure levels
Results
There were minimum alteration in creatinine levels and GFR rates postoperatively. Blood pressure normalize and the patient is out of medications after 1 week
Conclusions
Ligation of left main renal vein is a feasible and safe maneuver when dealing with complex retroperitoneal lesions and showed no impact in renal function in perioperative period. Longer follow up is required
