V9-12: Laproscopic Pyelolithotomy in an Ectopic Pelvic Kidney

Video

Introductions and Objectives
Surgical removal renal calculi in an ectopic kidney can be a challenge. Here we present an interesting case of a right ectopic pelvic kidney with a large stone and our experience using the laparoscopic approach. Our objective is to demonstrate an interesting and safe means of dissection and extraction of a large renal calculus.

Methods
The patient was diagnosed with a large right renal calculus in an ectopic pelvic kidney. A laparoscopic approach was used in managing his calculus. The video demonstrates the techniques used in stone localization and extraction.

Results
The stone was able to be extracted intact, and reconstruction of the renal pelvis was performed with 2-0 vicryl on an SH needle. The ureteral stent was removed after 6 weeks.

Conclusions
Laparoscopic pyelolithotomy is a safe and feasible option for treatment of ectopic renal calculi.
