V868: Laparoendoscopic Single-Site nephroureterectomy

Video

Introduction and Objectives
Laparoendoscopic Single-Site (LESS) surgery is a step further towards a less invasive laparoscopy. So far, it didn't hinder the versatility of laparoscopic surgery despite being in its early phases. This video describes the technique of LESS nephroureterectomy for a huge infected hydronephrotic Lt kidney.

Methods
A 64 y male presented with a visible lt renal mass, lt loin pain and hectic fever. Imaging revealed a huge infected hydronephrotic kidney with a tortuous hydroureter. A single incision, multiple torcar approach was adopted for nephroureterectomy.

Results
Operative time was 5h. There were no intraoperative or postoperative complications. Tube drain was removed on post operative day 2 and patient was discharged the next day.

Conclusions
LESS offers a good approach to the whole abdominal cavity, which allows for nephroureterectomy without changing patient&[prime]s position. The procedure needs further adjustment together with more experience to decrease operative time and standardize its steps.
