V02-09: Robot Assisted Kidney Transplantation with Vaginal Insertion of Renal Allograft
Video
INTRODUCTION
Renal transplant recipient surgery is conventionally performed using open technique. We present our technique of robotic assisted kidney Transplantation (RAKT) with vaginal insertion of the graft.
METHODS
A 28 year old lady, a mother of two children had RAKT with vaginal insertion from a deceased donor. Renal allograft was introduced through an incision in posterior vaginal fornix. Alexis wound retractor was used to minimize trauma w hile positionig the allograft. A 32 year old female advised to have a hysterectomy on pretransplant gynecological eval uation underwent a simultaneous robotic hysterectomy and RAKT.
RESULTS
Both patients had an uneventful perioperative period. Nadir creatinine values were attained in six and eight days resp ectively. At three months follow up, creatinine values are 1.2 mg% and 1.5 mg % respectively
CONCLUSION
Robotic renal transplant with vaginal insertion of graft is feasible and larger study needs to be performed to evaluate t he safety and advantages of the technique
