Prostate cancer detection remains one of the most common and most controversial aspects of urologic practice. In addition to the complexities around screening and use of PSA, the role of other biomarkers, biopsy techniques such as transperineal biopsy, and MRI for targeted biopsy are evolving rapidly. This course is intended for urologists, advanced practice providers, and trainees interested in using the most evidence-based methods for optimizing detection of clinically important prostate cancers, while improving patient experience and minimizing complications. |

This is an ongoing course on advanced prostate cancer at the annual AUA since 2012 and the changes over the last decade continue to be breathtaking! In the early years, it was all about metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with multiple new therapeutic advances starting in 2010 followed by novel oral antiandrogens and a focus on bone-targeted agents. Later, it expanded to cover hormone sensitive (HS) advanced disease due to the new data on chemotherapy and androgen synthesis inhibitors extending survival in new M1 patients. |

This course is intended for practicing urologists, residents, fellows, and APPs interested in optimizing detection, staging, and follow-up of genitourinary malignancies through the use of molecular imaging opportunities. The attendee will explore current diagnostic imaging modalities, their performance characteristics, and imaging guidelines for cancer staging. This will lead into an introduction of novel molecular imaging tests and their clinical applications. |

This course is taught by an interdisciplinary group of MDs and APPs and intended for a mixed audience of similar backgrounds. It describes in detail the treatment options for advanced and metastatic prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer, including non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. Up-to-date NCCN and AUA guidelines are utilized to guide the course. Because of the disease states and spaces that are the focus, most of the therapies that are taught are systemic, including cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted biologic therapy, and immunotherapy, or more specifically check-point inhibitors. |

There are multiple genomic tests and advanced imaging modalities (MRI, PSMA PET, etc) currently available for men to detect and risk stratify prostate cancer. The outcomes of these tests may lead to different detection strategies (observation, immediate biopsy, etc) and treatment decisions (active surveillance, surgery, radiation, adjuvant therapy, etc). We will also discuss germline testing as inherited mutations have considerable implications for screening, treatment, genetic counseling, and cascade testing of family members. |
